About

The rapid digital transformation of education has reshaped how we teach and learn. According to the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan, innovative digital tools and methodologies are essential for making education more engaging, inclusive, and effective. Gamification, the use of game elements in non-game contexts, has emerged as a powerful strategy for increasing motivation and improving learning outcomes.

At the same time, entrepreneurial competence has been recognized as a key skill for the future. The EU Council Recommendation on Key Competences for Lifelong Learning (2018) highlights the importance of promoting an entrepreneurial mindset among students to foster innovation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Higher education institutions must evolve to equip students with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex and digitalized world.

GATE (GAmification, Teaching & Entrepreneurship) addresses these challenges head-on by integrating gamification into entrepreneurship education. The project aims to create an engaging, interactive, and challenge-based learning experience that motivates students while preparing them for real-world business challenges. By applying Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) and digital gamification principles, GATE fosters a more hands-on and dynamic approach to entrepreneurship education.

GATE’s key innovations include:

  • A gamified learning framework that enhances motivation and engagement using elements inspired by game design.
  • Real-world entrepreneurial challenges, co-created with businesses, allowing students to apply their knowledge in practical settings.
  • A transnational, collaborative approach, bringing together universities, educators, and industry experts to develop innovative digital learning tools.

By leveraging gamification and digital entrepreneurship education, GATE contributes to the broader goals of fostering self-directed learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and digital competence among students. The project is a step toward the future of education—where learning is not just a process, but an engaging, rewarding, and immersive experience.
