Lilmore: Rethinking living through sufficiency and sustainability

At the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, interdisciplinary entrepreneurship is not just a concept, it’s a lived experience. A prime example is the student-driven initiative Lilmore, where design, architecture, sustainability, and innovation come together.  Sufficiency means less leads to greater efficiency through rethinking.

With this approach in mind, the team at Lilmore develops concepts in the area of living that focus on reduction and frugality in conjunction with high quality.

Lilmore is responding to the growing living space per person by flexibly adapting the houses developed by the research group to the life phases of their residents and changes in households, such as adult children moving out. The buildings can both grow and shrink to meet changing needs. Lilmore not only focusses on the sufficiency of living space, but also on simplicity in construction and in the most sustainable and high-quality selection and processing of materials.

Lilmore pursues a consistent design philosophy and works according to the principle below.
